I regret to inform you that the NWMA meeting scheduled for October 20 and 21 in Minden, Nevada has been postponed until spring. With the new COVID 19 restrictions, many people will not be able to attend in person, and after researching the virtual option, NWMA cannot make that happen in an affordable manner.
We hope to reschedule in the Spring when (hopefully) meeting restrictions are reduced, and we are also hoping to join another group with related interests to enable greater information sharing.I am sorry we have to do this, I was looking forward to it.
On a related note, we were going to have elections at the meeting. Currently we have one nomination for President, Sean Gephart, and we are looking for nominations for Treasurer. Dave Voth is also on the slate for Board member. If anyone would like to submit a nomination, or is interested in any of these positions, please let me know at email@example.com.
Nominations will close September 30, and the election will be held online on October 21.
Thanks for your patience and assistance,
It has been a long time since you've heard from me, and I know we've all been dealing with the pandemic and related issues for over a year now. I have been working on getting out a newsletter and some of the articles are quite large. As a result we are going to try a different approach. The newsletter will be on the NWMA website https: //nvwma.org/ which will hopefully enable everyone to see what is in it.
This is the year that we have our Biennial NWMA meeting! The meeting will be October 20 and 21 in-person at the Carson Valley Inn located in Minden, Nevada. The presentations will enable attendees to receive CEUs for their pesticide license renewal as well as providing new information about weed issues in Nevada. We are making arrangements to provide the meeting online as well as in person. Hopefully, everyone will be able to attend in person. Click here to register!
Also of interest: two articles by Barry Perryman and colleagues (some from the University of Nevada, Reno) here and here about grazing and invasive annual grasses in the West, and a quick read on managing Canada thistle in lawns.
Hope to see you at the conference in October!
